We are really delighted that Kate & Neville have secured their lease for the new Restaurant. The Beetroot Grill and Cafe will shortly coming to life on the high street in Morpeth. Watch this space for more news as the project develops.

Popgirl World :: an interesting design exercise

We were asked to produce a possible design for Popgirl world, it was a challenging brief but we delivered a design we’re proud of, this one didn’t quite hit the mark for the client. We don’t often do on-spec work, but this one was a lot of fun to have a go with. The demographic is 6 – 10 years and they want to grow the site to be aspirational for their audience. Our design was felt to be too girly as they are trying to target a more neutral audience, so I’m really curious what they decide to come up with in the end.

We are really proud of our association with pickledgreen and well done to the guys Steve & Mel for trying to achieve what seems as the impossible in this climate (hold on dears, we are not out of the recession just yet). As testamount to this just look at the press reviews, ok so they’ve had a mediocre review from the toughest nut in scotland but the rest are to be proud of and will only improve. Also big thanks to Claire at Pasha PR who’s done a fantastic job with the press for the pickledgreen team.

pickledgreen: the alternative website design!

pickledgreen was launched this week. The branding process was a long and very important one, getting the message just right was critical to the core of the business. This design didn’t quite make the cut, but we like it anyway. Take a look at the www.pickledgreen.co.uk site and you can see where we pushed the final design. As lead designer on the project, I’m really proud of where we ended up. It suits the restaurant and its ethics, its like a second skin.

Microstation flicker screen problem

This was an oddity that really flummoxed both MICROSTATION, the supplier and Me. After several months of testing, hardware changes and MS XP, Nvidia updates it boiled down to a simple problem. An incompatibility between Microsoft drivers for the wireless intellipoint mouse and the microstation software. removing the drivers, of course, doesn’t render the hardware useless, it resolves the problem of the screen flickering completely.

Sometimes, its “letting the tyres down”.

Its been a day of internet scams and it is only 10.02am.! Two clients have received very different emails today, but both with less than good intentions.

ISP renewal are not based in the UK will charge 79.99USD to allegedly renew your – about to expire – domain. Registering a .com for 2 years costs much less than this and you should ignore it. Any SJWDesign clients who are concerned about this email or any domain renewals should give us a call.

The following information has been posted on their website.

Step 1. We receive your order to renew your domain.
Step 2. We interact with your Internet Service Provider/ ISP to renew your domain name. In cases your ISP requires your login information we will contact you by mail and you will have to provide us with login information so we can preform a renewal. Note! No other changes on your account will be made.
Step 3. You receive a confirmation that your domain has successfully been renewed and you can see your new expire date on www.whois.com

Please note that you should never ever give out personal log in information such as this to a company that has emailed you directly. Your account could contain personal information that should not be passed on to a third party. SJWDesign and other reputable domain registration firms would never ask you for login information.
